Measure the concentration of carbon monoxide (SO) and concentration of hydrocarbons (CH) at speed x.x. without load.
Make sure the engine speed is correct.
Perform the following checks before measurements:
1) The condition of the air cleaner element.
2) Ignition advance angle.
3) The condition of the spark plug electrodes.
4) Condition of the crankcase ventilation system.
5) Status of the PGM-Fi indicator lamp (shouldn't burn).
1. Start the engine and warm it up until the radiator fan operates twice. Then heat for more than 2 minutes. no load at 3000 rpm.
2. Make sure that the speed x.x. correspond to the norm, and measure the concentration of carbon monoxide (SO) and concentration of hydrocarbons (CH).
- Concentration (SO) at idle speed: below 0.1%
- Concentration (CH) at idle speed: below 100 ppm
3. If the content of CO and CH is higher than allowed, perform a catalyst test (see ch. Mechanical part of the engine) and engine control unit (see above).
