Attention. The crankshaft pulley bolt has a right hand thread. While turning the crankshaft counterclockwise using the pulley bolt, the bolt may loosen. After completing the work, use the TORX key to tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt with the required force.

: 245 Nm (25.0 kgm)
1. Disconnect the terminal and the connector of the e / wiring of the generator, remove the wiring from the valve cover (see below).
2. Remove valve cover and top cover.
- Do not use the top cover to store small parts. Remove dirt with a cloth before installing the cover.
3. Check the belt for damage, wear, traces of oil and coolant along the entire length.
- Rotate the pulley to check. If the belt is damaged or worn, replace it (see below).
If there are traces of oil or coolant, remove the belt, wipe down each area near the belt, and install a new belt.
The belt is installed in the reverse order of removal. The valve cover is installed in the following order.
1. Accurately install the valve cover gasket, matching the corners.
Attention:
- Before installing the gasket, carefully clean the gasket grooves, wipe the gasket with a rag.
- Make sure that the gasket does not move from the corner areas and does not rise.
2. Apply sealant to the corners of the gasket (in 4 places).

- Use genuine Honda sealant 1216, 5699, 1216E, or 5999.
- Do not use old sealant.
- Remove dirt and oil from the sealant application surface.
- If more than 5 min. after applying the sealant, do not install the cover. Remove sealant and reapply.
- After installing the cover, fill in engine oil after 30 minutes. and more.
3. To prevent the valve cover gasket from falling out, hold the mounting surfaces of the camshaft bearings with your fingers (the upper part of the semicircle), install the valve cover and wiggle it slightly to seat the gasket correctly.
Attention:
- Before installing the valve cover, wipe the cylinder head mounting surface with a rag.
- Do not touch the sealant application surface.
- Check the washer for deformation, damage, check the mounting surface.
- Before installing the valve cover, lubricate the edges with engine oil (shaded part) tube seals for spark plugs.
- After installing the cover, visually check that the seals are not wrapped.
- Remove any escaping oil.
4. Tighten the bolts in the order shown in the figure.
- Tighten the bolts in 3 steps.
