Warning! Do not smoke while working on the fuel system. Do not create sparks or open flames in the workplace.
If you suspect that the fuel pump is out of order, check if it works; when the ignition key is turned to the ON position (II), You will hear a sound if you put your ear to the filler opening after removing the filler cap. The fuel pump should turn on for two seconds when the ignition key is first turned to the ON position (II). If the fuel pump does not make any sound, check it as follows:
1. Remove the access panel from the floor.
2. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position, then disconnect the 5-pin connector from the fuel pump.
3. Connect a jumper wire between terminals #4 and #5 of the PGM-FI 7-pin main relay connector.
4. Make sure that when the ignition key is turned to the ON position (II) There is battery voltage between terminal #5 of the fuel pump 5-pin connector and ground.
If there is battery voltage, check the fuel pump ground. If the ground is OK, replace the fuel pump.
If there is no voltage, check the wiring harness.
