Note: The illustration shows a left-hand drive model; the location on the right-hand drive model is similar.
1. horn relay; 2. fuse box / relay under the hood; 3. sound signal; 4. spiral wire; 5. horn switch
Audio signal testing
1. Disconnect the 1-pin connector from the horn.
2. Test the horn by applying battery power to the terminal and grounding the bracket. An audible signal should sound.
3. If the horn does not sound, replace it.
Circuit breaker testing
1. Remove the bottom pocket from the driver's side (see ch. «Body»).
2. Disconnect the 4-[3]-pin connector from the coiled wire.
3. Check for continuity between coiled wire terminal #4 [2] and ground in all switch positions.
[]: INC
- If there is continuity, the horn switch is OK.
- If there is no conductivity, go to step 4.
4. Remove the airbag assembly.
5. Check for continuity between pin #4 [2] of the coiled wire and the positive terminal of the horn switch.
- If there is continuity, replace the horn switch (airbag assembly.
- If there is no continuity, replace the coiled wire and check for proper operation.
