Examination
1. Remove the air filter housing (see chapter "Maintenance and general inspection and adjustment procedures").
2. Disconnect the start inhibit switch connector.
3. Verify that there is continuity between the pins shown in the table below with the appropriate selector positions.
Models without manual shift mode.
Models with manual gear shifting.
If the conductivity is not as specified, then check the conductivity at the outputs of the start inhibit switch.
4. Pull out the parking brake lever, chock the rear wheels and jack up the front of the vehicle.
5. Turn away bolts of a cover of the switch of prohibition of start and remove a cover.
6. Disconnect the connector from the start inhibit switch.
7. Verify that there is continuity between the pins shown in the table below with the appropriate selector positions.
Models without manual shift mode.
Models with manual gear shifting.
If the conductivity is correct, replace the wiring harness.
If the conductivity is not correct, check the start inhibit switch shaft.
8. Remove the start inhibit switch and measure the shaft dimensions shown in the figure.
- Size "IN" - 6.1 - 6.2 mm
- Size "WITH" - 1.8 - 2.0 mm
If the dimensions are not correct, repair or replace the start inhibit switch shaft.
If the dimensions are correct, replace the start inhibit switch,
9. Replace the removed parts.
Adjustment
1. Pull out the parking brake lever, chock the rear wheels and jack up the front of the vehicle.
2. Set the selector to position "N".
3. Turn away bolts and remove a cover of the switch of prohibition of start.
4. Loosen the start inhibit switch bolts.
5. Rotating body (IN) start inhibit switch (WITH), install the dipstick (D) 2 mm thick in slot (A) start inhibit switch as shown in the figure.
6. Wrap bolts of the switch of prohibition of start, then remove stylus and connect a socket.
- Tightening torque - 12 Nm
7. Check the connector for rust, dirt and oil, then connect the connector to the start inhibit switch.
8. Turn on the ignition and, moving the selector to each position, make sure that the readings of the indicators correspond to the position of the selector.
9. Make sure that the engine starts only when the selector is in the positions "R" or "N".
10. Make sure that the reversing lights are on only when the selector is in the "R".
11. Install the start inhibit switch cover and tighten the bolts.
- Tightening torque - 12 Nm
Replacement
1. Pull out the parking brake lever, chock the rear wheels and jack up the front of the vehicle.
2. Set the selector to position "N".
3. Turn away bolts and remove a cover of the switch of prohibition of start.
4. Disconnect the start inhibit switch connector, remove the bolts and remove the start inhibit switch.
5. Referring to the figure, set the start inhibit switch shaft to position "N".
1 - models without manual gearshift mode,
2 - models with manual gear shifting.
6. Rotating body (IN) new start inhibit switch (IN), install the dipstick (D) 2 mm thick so in slots (A) start inhibit switch as shown in the figure.
7. Without removing the dipstick (WITH), install the start inhibit switch (A) on the shaft (IN).
8. Wrap bolts of the switch of prohibition of start, then remove stylus and connect a socket.
- Tightening torque - 12 Nm
9. Check the connector for rust, dirt, and oil, then connect the connector to the start inhibit switch.
10. Turn on the ignition and, moving the selector to each position, make sure that the indicator readings correspond to the position of the selector.
11. Make sure that the engine starts only when the selector is in the positions "R" or "N".
12. Make sure that the reverse lights are on only when the selector is in position "R".
13. Establish a cover of the switch of prohibition of start and wrap bolts.
- Tightening torque - 12 Nm
