Disassembly
Warning
- Never use an air hose or dry brush to clean brake components.
- Use a vacuum cleaner to prevent brake dust from entering your respiratory tract.
- Dirty brake discs or pads will reduce stopping power.
Attention:
- Never let brake fluid get on your car, it can damage the paint; if it gets on the paint, wash it off immediately with water.
- To prevent liquid from entering, cover the hose connections with a mat or paper towel.
- Wash all parts with brake fluid and let dry, blow out all channels with compressed air.
1. Remove the brake protection.
2. Remove the locking pin and hinge pin. Remove the cable clamp and disconnect the cable from the lever.
3. Remove the fitting bolt and two sealing washers.
4. Remove the two mechanism mounting bolts and the mechanism body from the bracket.
5. Remove the axles and axle boots from the housing bracket.
6. Remove the shoe spring from the mechanism body.
7. Remove the shoe spring from the brake housing.
8. Remove the piston by rotating the piston counterclockwise with a tool and remove the piston boot.
Caution: Avoid damaging the piston.
9. Remove the piston seal.
Caution: Be careful not to damage the cylinder surface.
10. Install a special tool between the brake housing and the spring cover.
Caution: Be careful not to damage the inside of the brake cylinder when disassembling the brake mechanism.
11. Place the locknut as shown, then rotate the shaft until the plate contacts the mechanism body.
Note: Do not compress the spring under the spring cap.
12. Turn the shaft clockwise 1/4 to 1/2 turn to press adjusting spring B into the brake housing.
Caution: To avoid damaging internal parts, do not turn the shaft more than 1/2 turn.
13. Lower the locknuts completely and tighten them securely
Note: Hold the locknuts in this position until you install the retaining ring.
14. Remove the retaining ring with a special tool.
15. Hold the plate with your fingers and turn the shaft counterclockwise. Remove the special tool from the mechanism.
16. Remove the adjusting bolt.
17. Remove the spring cover by adjusting spring B, washer, bearing A and collar from the adjusting bolt.
18. Remove the sleeve piston and remove the pin from the cam in the mechanism body.
19. Remove the return spring.
20. Remove the parking lever and cup as an assembly from the brake housing,
Caution: Do not loosen the parking nut while the cam is installed in the brake body. If the lever and shaft must be separated, secure the lever in a vice and loosen the parking nut.
21. Remove the cam boot.
