Note: The crankshaft can only be removed from the engine outside the vehicle. The flywheel, rear oil seal housing, crankshaft pulley, drive belt and gear, pipe, piston group must also be dismantled.
1. Before removing the crankshaft, check the axial clearance using an indicator. installed in line with the shaft.
2. Move the crankshaft back and set the indicator to zero. Then push the shaft forward until it stops and record the indicator reading. Compare measurements with specification data. If the axial clearance is greater than the allowable value, check the surfaces adjacent to the thrust bearing for wear. If no wear is detected, replace only the bearing.
3. Measurements in step 2 can also be made with flat probes.
