1. Loosen the locknuts on the throttle cable.
2. Push the throttle lever all the way down.
3. While holding the lever down, pull on the throttle cable to check the free play of the cable.
4. Remove all free play of the throttle control cable by gradually turning the locknut near the cable housing. Turn the locknut until the throttle link stops moving. While holding the lever down, open the throttle linkage. The throttle control lever should begin to move exactly at the same time as the throttle linkage.
5. Ask the assistant to press the accelerator pedal all the way. With the pedal depressed, check that the free travel of the throttle control lever is at least 2 mm. While depressing the accelerator pedal, make sure the cable moves freely.
